As a mom, you’re constantly juggling priorities—your kids’ health, your home, your work, and your own well-being. But what if some of the everyday products you rely on are quietly interfering with your health, particularly your hormones?
Hormonal balance plays a huge role in everything from mood and energy to weight and fertility. Yet, we’re surrounded by endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs)—substances that can mess with your natural hormone function. The tricky part? These chemicals often hide in products we assume are safe.
Let’s take a closer look at five common culprits and simple, healthier swaps that can make a difference for you and your family.
1. Scented Candles and Air Fresheners
Why it matters: Most conventional air fresheners and candles contain phthalates and synthetic fragrances—both linked to hormone disruption.
Swap this: Try essential oil diffusers or beeswax candles with natural scents like lavender, eucalyptus, or citrus. Not only are they better for your air quality, but they can also boost your mood naturally.

2. Plastic Food Storage Containers
Why it matters: Plastics, especially those labeled #3 (PVC) or #7 (polycarbonate), can leach BPA and other hormone-disrupting chemicals—especially when microwaved.
Swap this: Use glass, stainless steel, or silicone containers for food storage. Mason jars are a mom-favorite and incredibly versatile! This 10 piece set is my favorite!!

3. Conventional Skincare and Makeup
Why it matters: Many beauty products contain parabens and oxybenzone, which can mimic estrogen in the body.
Swap this: Look for brands that are transparent about ingredients and avoid synthetic preservatives and dyes. This is my favorite skin care! The DermResults Advanced 5-Step Regimen is clinically tested and works synergistically with layerable and buildable ingredients to deliver maximum results to support the needs of skin.

4. Nonstick Cookware
Why it matters: Teflon and other nonstick coatings may contain PFAS, known as “forever chemicals” that can accumulate in your body over time.
Swap this: Opt for cast iron, stainless steel, or ceramic cookware. Cast iron even adds a little natural iron to your food—a win-win for busy moms!
This is my favorite collection. It comes in a 5 piece set

5. Laundry Detergents and Fabric Softeners
Why it matters: These often contain hidden fragrance chemicals and surfactants that can irritate the skin and endocrine system.
Swap this: Try plant-based or fragrance-free detergents, or make your own simple blend using baking soda, vinegar, and essential oil. This one is my personal favorite.

The Results Speak for Themselves
Small changes add up. Women who reduce their exposure to EDCs often report:
- Improved sleep and energy
- Fewer mood swings
- More regular menstrual cycles
- Less brain fog and skin irritation
- Better focus and overall well-being
You don’t have to overhaul everything overnight. Just start with one area—maybe swapping your plastic containers or switching to a cleaner detergent—and build from there. Your body (and your kids) will thank you.
